Leonard Mcnish

November 5, 1936 — February 18, 2022

The family of Leonard Ray McNish welcomes you to join them for a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood Colorado, 80227.

Leonard was born on November 5, 1936, in Burlington Kansas. He fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Patrick, and they married on December 31, 1955. They lived in Pueblo, Colorado, where they raised four daughters during their formative years, then moved to Lakewood Colorado.

Leonard and Patricia enjoyed many hobbies together such as crochet, ceramics, firing antique ceramic dolls, embroidery, and long arm quilting.  Leonard had a love of music, and played saxophone.  He enjoyed riding his tandem bikes, flying remote control helicopters, and fly-fishing.  Leonard was a true renaissance man who could build anything out of a random collection of parts and hand-crafted tools.  Among his many achievements, he built the addition to their home in Lakewood, rebuilt eight Corvairs, and built a boat strong enough to pull all four daughters in pyramid formation.  Leonard and Patricia had a strong circle of friends with whom they shared a love of square dancing, playing cards, camping, and boating.

Leonard worked as a Journeyman Electrician, which kept him engaged in countless commercial projects throughout Colorado including work for the Air Force Academy, the Pepsi Center, the Johnson/Eisenhower Tunnels, the Jefferson County Building, and the Denver International Airport.
Above all else, Leonard was a masterful storyteller with an abundance of clever jokes to share, which provided endless entertainment for anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Leonard is survived by his wife and four daughters, Pamela McNish, Cindy Swanson, Kimberly Eames, and Diana Pinkley; and six grandchildren, Shane Patrick, Zachariah Westra, Anthony Eames, Joede Stratton, Samantha Dole and Tiffany Pinkley.
