Leonard D. ""Shep"" Shepley, 76, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 peacefully at home of natural causes. He was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, on February 8, 1933, to Leonard and Cordelia (Davis) Shepley. Leonard graduated from Berkshire Boarding School in Massachusetts. During that time, he spent summers in Martha's Vineyard, where he learned to captain sailboats. After one year at Yale University, he left to spend four years in the United States Air Force, where he achieved Master Sergeant. He returned to college at Columbia University, where he met his first wife, Barbara C. Gardner. Being blessed with two daughters, he went on to graduate with Honors at Oklahoma University with a Masters degree in Computer Science. He went on to a successful career, during which he owned a patent in computer programming. Leonard met his second wife, Norma J. Desrochers, retired from Lockheed Martin and moved to the Florida Keys to watch sunsets and play dominos. Other joys were motorcycling, piloting aircraft out of Centennial Airport, owning Accolade Hobbies on Broadway, sailing and boating on Chatfield. Leonard was preceded in death by his second wife, Norma, in June of 2009, and is survived by two daughters, Barbi and Heather; one grandson, Dom; three great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:00 am with Funeral Service following at 11:00 am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado.
