Leroy Edmund Cunliffe

Roy passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones in Provo Utah on January 10, 2023, at the age of 80 after complications from dementia. He was born November 18, 1942, in Salt Lake City Utah to parents Leland Albert Cunliffe and Freda June Atwood. Roy joins his beloved bride, Joyce Mae Wolf, in eternal rest.

Roy is survived by his four children, Clint Cunliffe, Justin Cunliffe, Paige Hull and Levi Cunliffe; Grandchildren, Nathan Cunliffe, Kyle Cunliffe, Tate Hull, Camden Hull and Sierra Hull; and Great Grandchildren, Avery Cunliffe and Olivia Cunliffe. Roy is also survived by his siblings, Geniel Mitchell, Joan Cunliffe and Jerry Cunliffe.

Roy met the love of his life Joyce Wolf, at Granger High School, where they both attended. They were married and later sealed together in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Roy attended Weber State University for two years until the needs of his young family returned him to the work force full-time. Roy moved his family from Salt Lake in 1969 and he remained in the mile high state until his health forced a move back to Utah in 2021.

Roy worked most of his life in the construction trades as a concrete and waterproofing superintendent. Many of the high-rise buildings in the Denver skyline had Roy’s craftsmanship in their construction, a fact that gave him great pride and satisfaction. Roy had a second career after retirement with Horan & McConaty as an assistant funeral director.

Roy loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, riding his horses and ATVs in the mountains of Colorado and southern Utah. He was a cowboy at heart, and after he wasn’t able to keep horses, he consumed western novels regularly to celebrate his romance with the old west. Roy was a devout member of his LDS congregation, with many of his dearest friends for over 40 years in Arvada, Colorado.

A Funeral Service for Roy will be held at 11:00am on Saturday January 21, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7080 Independence Street, Arvada, Colorado  80004

A visitation will be held at the Church from 10:00-10:45am.

Following the service, Roy will be laid to rest next to his wife in Crown Hill Cemetery.
