Leslie Green

August 9, 1942 — August 21, 2019

Leslie Ilene (Johnson) Green, loving wife and mother, Elbert County resident, returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday the 21st of August at Parker Adventist Hospital after a long fight with MS and other illnesses. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Green; her children, Susan Olson (Carl), Stephanie Riley (Gregory), Chance Green (Renee) and Melissa Hafner (Chris); 16 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; and, her brothers Dale and Wayne Johnson (Patricia). She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Johnson and Iola May Watts, and her brother Ralph W. Johnson.

Born August 9, 1942 in Ogden, Utah, Leslie graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College where she met the love of her life, Chuck. She worked at Hill Air Force Base while Chuck finished college. Choosing to stay home with her children, she moved with her husband from Utah to Poughkeepsie, NY, back to Kaysville, Utah, and then to Arvada, Colorado in 1972. After her children were grown, she worked for Rocky Flats and Isbill Associates. Upon retirement, she moved with Chuck to Elbert County in 2005.

Leslie was active her entire life in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings; her favorite service being with little children in the Primary Organization. Leslie was a terrific pianist and passed her love of music on to her children. She had an artist’s soul expressed with her hobbies of knitting, crochet, needlepoint, sewing and collecting dolls.

Prior to her illness, she enjoyed hiking and biking with her husband and family. As her mobility diminished, she loved receiving guests and visiting. She also loved working and playing with new electronic technology.

Services will be held at the Elizabeth building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 11:30 on Saturday August 31st with internment at Elizabeth Cemetery immediately following.

Funeral arrangements are through Horan and McConaty Funeral Services, Elizabeth.
