BRISCOE, Lewis S. Lewis S. Briscoe, 82, formerly of Franktown, Colorado, passed away September 29, 2004 in Aurora, Colorado. He was born May 30, 1922 in Thomas, Idaho to Byron Edward and Emma Kunz Briscoe. His teen years were spent in Montana where he learned the value of hard work while working on a ranch. He enlisted in 1942 and served in the European Theatre as a gunner on a B-17. He survived his twenty-five missions and returned home in 1943 to Lowry Air Base where he met Catherine Frustaci. They married in 1945 and had four sons, Kenneth, Richard, Frank and Michael. Catherine died of cancer in February of 1980. Lewis met and married Doris Hinshaw of Newberg, Oregon on November 12, 1987. He worked construction; was a produce manager at several grocery stores; and worked 28 years for the U.S. Post Office. After retiring, he was a courier for Norwest Mortgage. He and Doris moved to Utah for six years and then returned to beautiful Colorado in 2003. Lewis was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Doris; four sons, Kenneth (Judith) Briscoe, Richard (Carrie) Briscoe, Frank (Ava) Briscoe, and Michael (Marilyn) Briscoe; six step-children, Keith (Holly) Dedman, Teresa (Bob) Dickinson, Diane (John) Hollist, Garry Wolf, Dwayne Wolf, and Carolyn (Jeff) Brown. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Martha (Ed) Kreamalmeyer; Melvin (Fay) Briscoe; and Shirley Farmer. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Louise Hitchcock, Alice Carter, William Briscoe, Myron Briscoe, Lillian Black, John Briscoe and Darlene Benson. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Meadowood Ward) at 3101 South Flanders, in Aurora, on Monday, October 4th, at 11:30 am. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
