Lewis Van Meter

September 14, 1922 — December 5, 2016

Lewis Van Meter was born in Denver, CO in 1922, and grew up in the South Denver area. He graduated from South High in 1941. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific. He attended Denver University and graduated in 1948, with a degree in economics. Lewis and his wife Frances were married in 1952. He has two daughters, Debra and Dana, both of which live in Highlands Ranch. He has two granddaughters, McKenzie and Maggie. He had been involved in several businesses. One of which was a fur farm, and served on the national board of directors. He served as a show judge and a fur grader. In 1979 he purchased a business in Greeley. This business he sold in 1999 and returned to Denver. While in Greeley he was involved in community activities such as chamber of commerce, Rotary, served on the advisory board of U.N.C., and was a member of the board of directors of the Greeley Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Lewis was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and has held offices in the church. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial. Private interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mile High Academy, 1733 Dad Clark Drive, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126.
