Lila June Murray, 90, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2016 with family by her side. She was born in McGill, Nevada on July 22, 1925 to George and Vena (Chamberlin) Hunter. Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick, son Gerald, and sisters: Georgia, Vita, and Carmen. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Richard Garrett, son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Theresa Murray, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Lila graduated from White Pine County High School in Ely, Nevada in 1943. After graduation, she moved to Oakland, California and worked for civil service during the war. She got married to Fred Murray in 1945, and they returned to McGill. They moved to Kearny, Arizona in 1957, where they spent 41 years. Lila retired from Kennecott Copper Corporation. After retirement Lila and Fred started a tax preparation and video rental store in Kearny. In 1999 Lila moved to Eckert, Colorado to be closer to her children. Lila was always energetic and adventurous, whether it was moving to Oakland, CA by herself at 19, river rafting at the age of 78, parasailing in Mexico or riding elephants in Thailand. She loved traveling abroad as well as camping and taking road trips in their travel trailer. She played the piano beautifully and loved to go to plays. Her greatest passion was her family. She loved spending time with family for holidays and visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 beginning at 4:00 in the afternoon at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora. A reception will follow at the HeartLight Center which is location on the property of Horan & McConaty.
