Lila Steyert, age 88, passed away on March 21, 2024 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was a graduate of DeKalb High School in Illinois, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University, and a Master's from Purdue University, both in Early Childhood Education. For many years, she used these as a teacher and director of the AAUW Preschool in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
A forty-four year breast cancer survivor, she was a lover of music, travel, tennis and the outdoors. She will be remembered for her compassion, energy, and sense of humor. Her contributions to the lives of many include volunteering with organizations in Los Alamos, Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Colorado Springs including Special Olympics, Visually Impaired and Blind Skiers, and Sky High Hope Camp for childhood oncology patients. She is survived by her son David, daughter Ann, sister Ida, a niece, and numerous nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, and sister Ellen.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Morningstar of Wheat Ridge for their ceaseless care, kindness and support.
