Lillian Isabel Blase

Lillian Blase, 88, passed away peacefully in Aurora, CO on May 8, 2012. She was born on October 31, 1923 in the Ravenwood, CO, the daughter of Mike and Annie Lenich. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1941. Upon her graduation from Barnes Business School in Denver, she went to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 1947, she married Angelo A. Blase. After raising her family, she returned to work with the Agriculture Department as the Executive Director for the Huerfano County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) from 1965 until her retirement in 1989. She served on the Walsenburg City Council from 1987 to 1993 representing Ward 3. Preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children, Karen Blase (Dean Fixsen) of Chapel Hill, NC; Debra (Jeff) Pond of Aurora, CO and Guy M. Blasi of Littleton, CO as well as her sister, Marjorie Lenich of Greenwood Village, CO; grandchildren, Kevin Maloney of Portland, OR, Amanda Fixsen (Andrew Schaper) of Eugene, OR; Allison Blasi and Nikki Blasi of Littleton, CO; and her nephew, Emil M. Blasi of Denver. Local Walsenburg services are scheduled for Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Boise-Ortega Funeral followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sister Carol's Senior Outreach Ministry in Walsenburg, Colorado. Lillian will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
