Linda L. Hanson, M.D., age 64, passed away on December 30, 2022, at North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, CO.
Linda was born in Minneapolis, MN, and was one of three children born to James and Michelina Hanson. During her youth she spent many hours outdoors swimming, sledding, ice skating, bike-riding, and hiking with her constant companion, her twin sister Lori. Linda was a competitive swimmer on several neighborhood swim teams as well as swimming on an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) swim team while the family lived in Northern Virginia. The family relocated to Jefferson County, Colorado and Linda attended Columbine High School during its first year of operation, graduating in 1976. She went on to attend the University of Colorado (CU) at Boulder and, after two years attended the University of Colorado, School of Nursing, Denver, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1980).
Starting in 1980, Linda worked as a Registered Nurse at what was then Denver General Hospital for approximately four years before deciding to apply to CU School of Medicine where she was accepted. She graduated in 1988, with Honors, as a Doctor of Medicine. She was particularly happy that her father, who had just received his Ph.D. at CU-Denver, was able to hood her during the Hooding and Oath Ceremony.
Linda completed one year of an Internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Oregon, and a three-year residency in Emergency Medicine at Denver General Hospital (1989-1992) After completing her residency and obtaining board certification in Emergency Medicine, she worked as an ED physician in Colorado at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lutheran Hospital and then with Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG) at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was very well-liked and respected by her patients and colleagues alike and was a very caring physician with excellent clinical skills that were finely honed from her time working as a nurse. She loved the practice of medicine and undoubtedly saved many lives during her over 20 years as an ED physician.
Linda retired from medicine in late 2014 to take care of her two young daughters, Samantha (Sami) and Lauren Alexis (Lexi) who were the loves of her life, and her pride and joy.
Throughout her life, Linda had many friends and acquaintances. She was a bright, loving, warm, and engaging person whose smile would light up any room. She loved music and loved to dance. She also loved the outdoors and in particular the beauty of the Colorado mountains. She had a real appreciation for good humor, a generosity of spirit and was always eager to help others. She was a steadfast and loyal sister and friend. Linda was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Boone; daughters from a previous marriage Samantha (Sami) and Lauren Alexis (Lexi); father James Hanson; twin sister Lori Hanson (Kevin Guarino); brother Jimmy Hanson (Kathy); niece (Nicole Guarino); nephew (Matthew Guarino). She was preceded in death by her mother, Michelina Hanson.
