Lisa Chase

November 1, 1954 — October 11, 2021

Littleton

Lisa passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 11 at the age of 66 in Littleton, Colorado.

Lisa was born in Palo Alto CA to Mary Jo and Donald Moran. She had an older brother, Gary. She moved around California a lot as a child, and then attended Humboldt State University in California where she met her husband Craig. They got married over spring break in 1976 when they were both seniors in college. After they graduated, Lisa and Craig traveled to Chile with the Peace Corps from 1977-1978. It was during her time as a preschool teacher in Chile that she discovered her passion and talent for early childhood education.

Lisa and Craig moved to Colorado in 1985 with their two daughters, Holly and Melanie. Lisa began her 25 year career as an educator at Red Rocks Elementary in 1990. After a few years she left Red Rocks and moved to Shaffer Elementary, where she worked the rest of her career as a kindergarten and then first grade teacher.

Through her time as a teacher, Lisa touched hundreds of lives. She was gentle and kind with children and truly loved her job.

A teacher through and through, Lisa had a lifelong love of learning. After she retired in 2015, Lisa became a volunteer with Denver Audubon through their naturalist program. She was an avid nature lover and gained an encyclopedic knowledge of local animals and plants. She knew the name of every bird that visited the yard, and every plant that grew around their Roxborough home. She continued educating with Denver Audubon by traveling to local schools in the area and helping with educational programming.

Lisa had a profound impact on so many people in her community, and she was also an incredible grandmother to her three grandchildren, Tao, Teddy, and Josie. She was constantly baking with them, reading with them, and taking them on adventures around town.

Lisa was a warm, loving soul, and was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Denver Audubon.

Private services were held for Lisa, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
