Lise Thevenet Clark

December 30, 1957 — August 3, 2013

Lise Gabrielle Dominique Thevenet Clark, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at her home in Greenwood Village, Colorado. She was 55. Lise was born December 30, 1957 in Albany, New York, the 6th of nine children of Stanley Edward Thevenet and Marie Therese ""Poppy"" Hulsebosch. She graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1975 and from New Mexico State University in 1979. She was crowned Miss New Mexico USA, representing her state in the Miss USA pageant in 1981. Shortly after she quickly relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in advertising and marketing before beginning her Mary Kay career in 1984. When Lise began her Mary Kay business, she was so enthusiastic and so determined, she laughingly referred to herself as a ""bulldozer,"" or ""a maniac with a mission."" Nothing was going to stop her from reaching the top. Within two years, she became an Independent Sales Director and achieved Independent National Sales Director in 2002. Lise invested her energy and enthusiasm in the leaders of her National area, to ""enroll, empower, enrich and encourage women in their dreams."" Lise married Robert Randall Clark on April 1, 1989 in Los Angeles, California and a year later they had their first child, Kaitlin in 1990. In 1992, Lise, Randall, and Kaitlin moved to Denver with the flexibility of Lise's Mary Kay income to start a new life in Rocky Mountains. Shortly thereafter, their son Wyndham was born in December of 1993 and a few years later their youngest son Brendan was born in June of 1997. It was six months after the birth of their last child, that Lise was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After two years of chemo, radiation, and various health restrictions, Lise was cancer free; a cancer Survivor! In 2002 she reached the pinnacle of her Mary Kay career, achieving National Sales Director of Mary Kay Cosmetics; the highest honor, and to top that, she and her youngest sister, Monique Balboa, achieved it together, being the first sister Nationals to ever debut. To celebrate, Lise took her family to Maui, Hawaii with her bonus check: all expenses paid. To this day it was one of her favorite family memories. Lise has enjoyed the last few years watching and encouraging her two sons in their sports; her son Wyndham in his golf---she knows he will be on the PGA tour some day, and her son Brendan in his soccer---she loves watching him have fun on the field. She also knows Brendan will make it big with his mind for sales and all his businesses he has going. Lise loves having tea with her daughter and sharing their dreams together, as well as watching movies and planning their next Mother-Daughter trip to Santa Fe. On December 21st, 2012 Lise was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast cancer; her cancer was back and had been lying hidden, dormant, for years. Because of the vastness of the cancer, radiation and surgery were not an option. With new technology that previously had not been available 14 years ago, Lise found out she was BRCA1+ Triple Negative, a form of genetic cancer and a carrier. This qualified her for a trial at University Hospital. After two, extremely painful, exhausting, and taxing trials, the cancer had gone unaffected and still continued to grow and multiply throughout her body. Seeing that Western medicine was not working and only causing her to lose weight, become weaker, and had no answers for a cure, Lise turned to Eastern medicine. With a regimen of electrotherapy acupuncture, juicing, and naturopathic eating methods, Lise worked to make her body stronger to help fight the disease. Lise truly fought to the end. The cancer spread and grew so quickly, that when she started gaining a little strength, the cancer quickly gained quicker than she could gain strength through her regimens. She stayed faithful and prayerful through it all and never gave up on her miracle. What has become apparent, is that more than one miracle has happened in this process, and although it wasn't the miracle we all wanted: Lise Healed, God had different plans. She is survived by husband Randall, daughter Kaitlin, and sons Wyndham and Brendan Clark all of Greenwood Village, Colorado; sisters Susan Thevenet of Pennsylvania; Michele Thevenet and husband Hugh Morris of Colorado; Margot Thevenet of Colorado; Renee Rodbell and husband Jerry of Maryland; Adrienne Jochum and husband Clemens of Eppenhain, Germany; Monique Balboa and husband Robert of Colorado; and her brother Howard Thevenet of New Mexico. As well as her nieces Rachel Horowitz, Nicole Shanor, Monique Thevenet, Whitney Howe, Stephanie James, Madeleine Jochum, Erin Todd, and Robin Rodbell and nephews Stephan Jochum, Andreas Jochum, Patrick Howe, Chad James, and Jonathan Thevenet. Lise Clark is preceded in death by her sister, Robin Thevenet in 1988; her mother, Marie Walker in 2001; and father, Stanley Thevenet in 2009.
