Lloyd “Lee” Morgan, husband, father and friend passed away peacefully at Collier Hospice Center on April 19, 2023. He was 89 years old. Lee was born in 1933 in Sanford, a small rural town in south-central Colorado. He moved to Denver when he was 17 years old, and lived there until 1955 when he was drafted into the Navy.
While he was in the Navy he was stationed in San Diego and worked as a machinist on the destroyer USS Isabel until his honorable discharge in 1957. While in San Diego, he met and married Roberta Stewart, After leaving the Navy, Lee and Roberta moved back to Denver where he worked as a drywaller until his retirement. They had two children, a son Raymond, and a daughter Sharon. Lee and Roberta divorced in 1970.
In 1979, after a long friendship, Lee married Suzan Denniston, and they blended their families to include Suzan’s children Larry and Laurie. Suzan and Lee’s friendship continued to strengthen and grow throughout 43 years of a wonderful marriage.
After retiring, Lee took up woodworking and became expert at furniture building and refinishing. He loved the outdoors and spent many enjoyable hours camping, rafting, waterskiing, and cross country skiing. He loved traveling and seeing new places, and he and Suzan and a group of friends had many trips and adventures with their fifth wheel trailer in tow. He loved cars, especially vintage cars, and also loved playing with his remote control cars.
Lee’s church affiliations were North Presbyterian, Northwest Baptist and finally Arvada Baptist.
Lee is survived by his wife Suzan, his son Raymond and daughter-in-law Robin, his daughter Sharon and son-in-law Steve, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Ruth Morgan and his brother, Dale.
A memorial service for Lee will be held at Arvada Baptist Church on Sunday April 30th at 6:30pm, refreshments served after for friends and family to share their thoughts and memories of Lee. As an honored veteran Lee will be buried at the National Cemetery at Fort Logan on Tuesday, May 2nd at 10:15am. Please wait in your vehicle at Staging Area B in the cemetery until a representative guides everyone to the committal shelter.
