Lois was an avid reader, loved word puzzles, jumbles and Scrabble. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit her oldest sister and her youngest daughter and family annually for the past 20 years. She survived breast cancer at age 75. Celebrated her 90th birthday in Las Vegas. But, most of her time was spent in her kitchen where she poured huge amounts of love into each recipe she prepared. Whether it was for a holiday, a birthday or a bake sale she put her heart into every dish. She even spent time teaching cooking classes at The Thornton Senior Center. We will miss her homemade specialties, especially her breakfast burritos, meatballs, pizzelles and peanut butter cookies. In 1955, Renaldo and Lois purchased their family home in the new city of Thornton. Complete with ribbon cutting by movie star Dorothy Lamour. Lois was very proud of her 63 years’ of residence and took every opportunity to share all of the “City of Planned Progress” value with friends and family. The City of Thornton 50th Anniversary cookbook contains a few of her original recipes. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her biggest joys in life.
