Lois Marie Fontaine, 82, of Northglenn, CO passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born on September 3, 1941 in Clyde, MO to the late Louis and Heldora Beck. Her family moved to Salina, KS in 1942 where she had many fond memories of playing with her cousins that were very dear to her and spending the summers on her grandparent's farm in Tipton. In 1950 the family moved to Denver, CO when her dad got a job at Lowry Airforce Base. She graduated from Denver South High School in 1959. She met her ex-husband, Joseph S. Fontaine, at a church gathering and they married on September 1, 1962. After their wedding, Joe started his service in the Army and was stationed in Anniston, AL for a short period of time. After leaving the service, they moved to California where he and Lois started their family of three boys. In 1970 they moved to Kingman, AZ where she enjoyed being a mom and made sure the boys didn't get into too much trouble playing in the desert. When the boys were in middle school, they moved to West Columbia, TX and she worked at a local bank as a teller. In 1984 Lois moved back to Denver, CO along with her son Michael. She worked at Omni Bank as an assistant to one of the bankers, but her most rewarding job was at Mercy Housing as the Executive Assistant to Sister Lillian Murphy the President and CEO. When she was ready to semi-retire, she worked in the parish office at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church until she fully retired. During retirement Lois enjoyed working in her yard, making trips to the museum, especially when there was a traveling exhibit, going to the zoo, watching movies, playing games on her tablet, and sitting on her front porch reading and chatting with her neighbors. With a love for genealogy, she spent many hours researching her ancestry online. Her grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved going to their events and caring for them on occasion. Her faith was strong and a very important part of her life. She would light a candle and say a prayer for anyone in need. Lois spent these past five years at Northglenn Heights Senior Living as Alzheimer's diseases started to progress. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
Lois is survived by her sons, Michael and wife Mary Jo Fontaine of Thornton, CO, Marc and wife Paige Fontaine of The Woodlands, TX and Matthew and wife Kathryn Fontaine of Denver, CO, and six grandchildren, Joseph Fontaine and Alex Fontaine of Thornton, CO, Macy Fontaine of Dallas, TX, Grant Fontaine of The Woodlands, TX, Justin Fontaine and Kyle Fontaine of Denver, CO, and brother Ken Beck of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Heldora Beck, brother Jerry Beck and sister-in-law Donna Beck.
