Lois Jean Gifford

Lois passed away peacefully on October 30, 2012, at the age of 87. She was born in Denver and grew up in the Washington Park neighborhood. After graduation from South High, she went to work for the phone company. She married Roger Gifford in 1943 and became his loyal companion of 69 years. Always active as a community volunteer, she worked with The Salvation Army, the Colorado History Museum, Camp Fire Girls, PTA, OptiMrs, and the handicapped. Lois had the gift of making close lifelong friends. Her warm home was the hangout for all the kids in the neighborhood. She was a member of the Lakewood United Church of Christ and Pinehurst County Club. In recent years she moved to Sunrise at Pinehurst where she was beloved by the entire staff for her sweet disposition, ready smile, and frequent hugs. Lois is survived by her husband Roger; son Brad Gifford, daughter Claudia Paulson and her husband Gary; Grandchildren, Grant Paulson, Stacie Hawkins and her husband Craig, Lindsey Birthisel and her husband Andrew; Great-Grandchildren, Corbyn Paulson, Rachael Paulson, Anna Hawkins and Olivia Hawkins. She is preceded in death by her parents and Grandson Andrew Paulson. Lois led a beautiful life. There will be a Memorial Service, November 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Lakewood United Church of Christ, 100 Carr Street, Lakewood, Colorado 80226.
