Longtime Denver area resident, Lois Ann Johansen passed away on July 17, 2014 at the age of 83 after a valiant battle with cancer. Lois was born in Yutan, Nebraska on June 24, 1931 to Otto and Marie Kennec. She was the fifth of six children. The family later moved to Alamosa, Colorado where Lois attended public school and Adams State College. In 1951 she moved to Denver to attend secretarial school at Barnes Business College. While working as a professional secretary for Stearns Rogers, she was introduced by a friend to her husband of 58 years, Douglas Johansen, a Denver architect. They were married in 1956 and lovingly raised three children in Aurora, Colorado. Lois later worked for Stearns Catalytic, Mountain States Bank and the Denver Board of Realtors. She is survived by her husband, Douglas; two sisters Elaine (Wayne) Litten, Ann Villott, and a brother Bob (Lorraine) Kennec; two sons, Brent (Kat) Johansen, Mark (Marianne) Johansen and a daughter, Julie (Mark) Huun; five grandchildren, Jack and Kate Huun, Bryce, Ross and Baden Johansen as well as many nieces and nephews. Lois will be remembered as a kind, poised and strong woman, a warm and generous mother and grandmother, a caring wife, and a gracious hostess. A Memorial Service with a Reception following will be held starting at 1 P.M., Saturday, August 2nd at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver.
