Lois Eileen Guenthner Peterson, second youngest child of Delitha (Sheeks) and Joseph Redmon, was born August 2, 1918 in Ft Wayne, Indiana, joining siblings Lula, Pearl, Velma, Lena, Ivan and Leora. Florence, the youngest, followed in 1921. She died at Mapleton Care Center in Lakewood, Colorado on March 21, 2018 at age 99. Lois married John G. Guenthner December 2, 1939 in Ft Wayne and they moved to Colorado in 1947 where together they raised five children. John died July 7, 1978. On September 28, 2002, Lois married Rev. James Peterson in Denver, gaining six stepchildren and their families, whom she dearly loved. Jim died September 9, 2005. In addition to her primary role as wife and mother, she was employed for ten years by the Denver Dry Goods Company as a China and Silver Consultant, and later as a child caregiver to the three sons of Tom and Andrea Moore, a role she relished. Lois is survived by her children, John T. (Lora) of Denver, Jacqueline Anderson (Jeff) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Melanie Madigan of Tigard, OR, and Craig Guenthner (Linda Turner) of Golden, and Jimâs children, Annette (John) Haman, Deborah (Steve) Gibson, Sara Cheney (Mark), James (Bev) Peterson, Thomas (Bev) Peterson and Nancy Sjostrand. Lois is also survived by her seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, Lois was preceded in death by all her siblings and her daughter Jeanenne. Lois will always be remembered for her reverence of the gift of this life, her strong faith, strong personality, strong dedication to her family and her fantastic cooking. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Memorial Church (1370 Holly St, Denver, CO 80220) to the attention of John Baker or Make A Wish foundation (7951 E. Maplewood Ave #126, Greenwood Village, CO 80111). In honor of Lois, a Visitation will be held Tuesday March 27, 9:30AM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home (1091 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80246). Graveside service 11:30AM at Fairmount Cemetery (430 S Quebec St, Denver, CO 80247).
