Lois J. Ryan

d. February 8, 2017

Lois J. Ryan, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Denver died peacefully on February 8, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living from complications of Alzheimer's. Lois Jean Finney was born in Crafton Heights, PA. She was the third of four children born to Edith Davidson and Joseph A. Finney, who preceded her in death along with her brother Captain Wayne Finney, her sister Marjorie Underwood and her former husband, William E. Ryan. Her youngest brother, Leigh D. Finney (Betty) resides in Naples, FL. She is also survived by her daughters, Beth Ryan and Susan Bertram (Don), of Denver, and her son, Kerry Ryan (Linda) of Mercer, PA. Lois was the loving grandmother of Jessie (Joe Medvan), Zack (Nicole), Chelsey and Aubrey and additionally blessed with two great-grandchildren, Joey and Charlotte. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Lois was a lovely, strong, determined woman who was ahead of her time, pursuing two careers after raising her family. She moved to Denver in 1981 and managed a popular toy store, Playnix, for 17 years, then transitioned her career to another of her favorite pastimes, (she was an avid reader), by working at the Bookies Bookstore. She loved dogs, and had many interests including sewing, shopping, decorating, and making soup. She especially loved the mountains of Colorado. Lois was an inspiration. Her favorite symbol was the ""sun"", and she will forever be remembered as an upbeat, bright and sunny light for all that knew and loved her! She was a very proud American and flew the stars and stripes. Family and friends are invited to a special celebration of her life that will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an organization close to Lois' heart – ""Friends of Man"", P.O. Box 937, Littleton, CO 80160-0937 or www.friendsofman.org Please share your memories of Lois and condolences with her family in the Guestbook link below.
