Lois Leota Skiff

Lois Leota Skiff, born April 7, 1923 to Anton and Margaret Yartz Skiff passed away peacefully with family at her bedside Sunday morning January 31, 2016 after suffering a stroke. Lois grew up on a ranch in Aspen, Colorado the youngest daughter of a family of 13. She graduated from Aspen High School Class of 1941 and from Barnes Business College in Denver, Colorado. Lois lived and worked in Baltimore, Maryland for Glenn L. Martin and in Richland, Washington for GE, eventually moving permanently to Denver where she retired after more than 25 years from Lockheed Martin in 1988. Lois traveled extensively throughout her life visiting Europe, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and enjoying many cruises and other excursions with family and friends. She was very active hiking, bowling, and volunteering. Lois volunteered at St. Anthony's Central Hospital for 25 years following retirement and served as an ambassador for the newly opened Denver International Airport (DIA). Lois remained single all of her life but was an incredible aunt to all of her many nieces and nephews and was a constant second mother to Heather Chisholm of Littleton, Colorado and Karen Chisholm Stevenson of Aspen, Colorado. Lois moved to Life Care Center of Littleton in the fall of 2014 where she enjoyed every activity available including cards, crafts, Bingo, site seeing and Ice Cream Socials. Services will be held at Horan & McConaty 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado. A Visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 5:00 PM with a Rosary following 6:00 PM. A Viewing will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10AM with a Funeral Mass following at 11:00 AM. A private family internment will be held at Red Butte Cemetery in Aspen, Colorado. A celebration of Lois's life will be held later this spring with date and time to be determined.
