Lonnette Frances Green

November 9, 2014 — April 19, 2014

Lonnette Frances Green was born on November 19, 1917, and passed away on April 19, 2014. She was 96 years old. Born in Silver Plume, Colorado, she was the younger daughter of Walter and Florence Rowe Green. She had one older sister, Eleveia. She graduated from high school in Georgetown and then moved to Denver, where she went to business school for two years. Eventually she went to work for Dr. Eli Nelson, and worked for him for 44 years as his receptionist/assistant. Lonnie, as she was lovingly called by all who knew her, was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church for 70 years. She and her best friend, Eileen Conboy, were busier in their retirement years than when they were working. Tireless in volunteer work, Lonnie always thought of others before herself and looked for ways to care for and love the people around her. She was universally beloved herself, but she never sought out attention, but rather focused on everyone else. Lonnie was the favorite aunt of her great-nieces and nephews, all of who lived in Oregon. She had family of another kind in Denver—close friends and neighbors who cared deeply for her and watched out for her as she grew older. She is greatly missed, but those who love her know she's in another, happier place. The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 24th, followed immediately by the Funeral Mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, West 29th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Downtown Lunch Program c/o St. Dominic Church, 3053 West 29th Avenue, Denver 80211.
