Lore Isa Wiggins

Lore Wiggins, 79, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2014 after a battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill; daughters Leslie (Kevin) Conrad and Carol Igoe; son-in-law Joe Igoe; grandchildren Jesse, Luke, Mick, Dillon, Patrick, Niall and Catie, great-grandchild Kingston, and siblings Peter (Ursula), Barbara (Helmut) and Heidi (Jochen). She is preceded in death by her parents Curt and Ruth Haasemann. She was born July 5, 1934 in Ludwigslust, Germany and grew up in Crailsheim. She attended Heidelberg University and Ludwig Maximillian University in Munich. She met Bill Wiggins in Crailsheim and married him on August 4, 1956; the same year she immigrated to the United States. She lived several years in Texas where she received her Bachelor and Masters degrees at University of Texas – El Paso. She received her PhD degree at University of Texas – Austin. She taught French at Richland Junior College in Dallas, Texas and in Colorado in the Aurora Public School system at Gateway High School. She received many accolades in her years of teaching. In 1989 she received the Colorado Educator Award sponsored by The Milken Family Foundation and the Colorado State Department of Education. Also in 1989, she received The White House Commission on Presidential Scholar Program, Recognizance for Excellence in Teaching and Conscientious Contribution to Education. She was a past President of the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers. She enjoyed travelling to almost 80 different countries and several student tours to France. She is a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Aurora. She spent her final days in Juniper Village and Gabriel's House in Aurora with Pinnacle Hospice. All of her caretakers were angels on Earth watching over Lore as she made the transition to be with the Lord. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2 pm, at Horan & McConaty 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association 455 Sherman St. #500, Denver, CO 80203.
