Loren LeRoy Craig

October 29, 1941 — January 9, 2015

Loren LeRoy Craig was born to parents Louise and Basil Craig on October 29, 1941 at their family home in Leon, Iowa. At the age of seven his mother remarried and Howard Cope became his loving step-father. A few years later they moved to Prairie City, Iowa, where Loren attended Prairie City High School, graduating in 1960. His love of football led him to lettering in both offense and defense all five years.Loren was a member of his high school marching band. He competed in many state music competitions reaching a ranking of #1 in trombone performances. Loren was also the drummer in two dance bands.His nickname in high school was ""Hutch"". Loren's first job was at the age of seven, he was the proud ""bell boy"" at the hotel his step dad owned in Leon Iowa. Loren was a route salesman for Wonder Bread twenty one years. upon leaving employment, there he became a route salesman for Alsco for sixteen years.Loren was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local 537 for 36 years. Loren enjoyed spending time with his family, long mountain drives, travel and just being out in the sun. He loved everything western from music to horses, and rodeos. Loren enjoyed sports, watching football and all the competitive events in sports on television. He loved cars and trucks, but they had to be fast and powerful. He had several cars like this back in the day. he often remarked ""If I had all my cars in a big garage we would be rich"". Loren loved his 88 Chevy Truck ""Ole Blue"". Action and western movies were always his choice. In later years Loren loved traveling with his wife Sandy and beloved sis Carol. Loren was a resident of Aurora, Colorado, since 1964. Loren married Sandra Teer May 28, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2014. Proud parents of three children Sherri Lea, Christine Diane, and Michael Loren Craig. Loren is survived by his loving wife Sandy, his wonderful children Sherri Craig, Christine (Bill) Blitz and Michael (Crystal) Craig. Grandchildren Ryan, Shelby, and Tyler Blitz, Jolea, Mitchell, and Morgan Bushie. Great grandson Colton Blitz. Many nieces and nephews. His loving sisters in law and brothers in law and many friends. His beloved four legged buddy Sammie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel located at 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel located at 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to St.Jude's Children Hospital or Every Creature Counts, Ft. Lupton Colorado.
