Lorene S. Anderson

June 30, 1919 — March 22, 2018

First daughter of Earl and Elta (Lee) Sproul. Born June 30, 1919 in Norton, Kansas. Passed away on March 22, 2018 in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 98. Lorene started school in a one room school house. Before finishing the first grade the family moved to Oberlin, Kansas. She attended schools in Oberlin, graduating from Decatur Community High School in 1938. Lorene went to Fort Hays State University for 2 years, getting a sixty-hour life certificate. She taught 3 years before getting her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, graduating in 1944. She taught for 6 years in Kansas before coming to Denver, Colorado in 1947, teaching 31 years in Denver. June 11, 1958, she married Preston Anderson. He passed away March 6, 1996. Lorene enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, playing cards, oil painting and reading. She was a member of Phillips United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and P.E.O. Preceded in death by parents, husband, a sister and several cousins. Survivors include sister Dorothy Stephens, Neva Lee and Stephen Lee, several other cousins and friends. Funeral Service is Wed. April 4, 2018 at 10:30am with viewing at 9:30am, Phillips United Methodist Church, 1450 S. Pierce St., Lakewood, CO 80232. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery following the service, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. Remembrances may be made to the Denver Teachers’ Club Assistance Fund, 1617 S. Acoma St., Denver, CO 80223, or Phillips United Methodist Church. Please share your condolences with the family in the guestbook below.
