  • Achieved receiving people for who they were and not for the color of their skin and instilled this same virtue in her daughter.
  • Achieved an uplifted spirit and lifted others spirits up through-out life's trials and tribulations.
  • Achieved Strength, Stamina and Resilience.
  • Achieved endurance of pain tolerance like no other.
  • She achieved remembering her family, and God, even when it was tough to remember yesterday.
  • Achieved effortlessly giving of herself as a Caregiver to others no matter how tired she was, during their end of life stages, maintaining a sense of humor while ensuring their safety, hygiene, morale, and dignity, always with a smile on her face.
  • Achieved being a beautiful Mother. Always there to talk, always with open arms extending a hug and kiss, no matter what the occasion.
  • Achieved being a great role model. She set boundaries and rules. She was supportive, encouraging, loving, patient and forgave often.
  • Achieved being protective yet soft.
  • She achieved always putting Family first. Family always came first for her – always.
  • She achieved teaching me to never give up, to fight till the end.

She was Irish - with a touch of Native American. She stood 5'5"". She preferred her hair long and was blonde before gray. Her eyes were a dark blue, like the ocean and they smiled at you, even when her mouth didn't feel like it. Her laugh was comforting and contagious. Her tears were rare to reveal themselves...unless you gave her a sappy card. She had the best spirit, nature and sense of humor. She always found the positive. She could have a fiery temper if tested, pushed or threatened, but never unwarranted.
She was a care giver to others and her family, and she was fantastic at it! Always enjoying interacting with people, conversing, bring a smile to their face, or making them laugh - whatever it took...she could always lighten the mood.
She wasn't you're typical cooking and baking ""Grandma"". Oh she enjoyed eating and going on walks and going to the park but she could snack and play cards and video games all night with the best of them! And she liked watching all kinds of movies, (especially the scary ones).
She was an artistic, creative, innovative, fun loving woman who seen value in everything and everyone.
She taught me so much about morals and ethics, patience, sacrifice, life, humanity and love and how ""money isn't everything"" and now, a different kind of loss. A different ache.
She loved without caution. Without reservation, unconditionally and with all of her heart, soul and energy.
She always had my best interest at heart, she sacrificed for me, encouraged me, tried to make sure I was safe and out of harm's way. Wanted me to know wrong from right and even though right could be hard, to choose it. She gave boundaries and rules and punishments. As I got older, she let me make choices, even when I knew she didn't want to and she gracefully gave me freedom to grow and to make my own mistakes and when I did, she was still right there, to put her arms around me, to wipe my tears saying ""it'll be okay"" or that ""things happen for a reason"" and to ""dry my tears and put some cold water on my face"". She was a nurturer and a protector by nature.
She enjoyed listening to music: Oldies, R&B, Country, Soft Rock, Pop and loved to Dance! If it had a good beat, she couldn't sit still!
She was an animal lover and loved nature and everything about it, the trees, the mountains, rivers, streams and rocks, down to the flowers to the birds and the butterflies and everything in between.
She loved when it snowed and the sunshine and the moon. She took time to appreciate every little thing.
She loved taking long rides in a car with no destination.
She loved to draw and sing, paint and color.
She loved Holidays, decorating the Christmas tree and birthday celebrations. She always made you feel like you were so special. She just loved spending time together.
She loved her coffee! Pepsi, butterflied shrimp, salads, almond Roca, chocolate anything and cashews. and an occasional beer.
She inspired me and helped shape who I am today. More than all of this, she is the strongest woman I've ever known. I have never met anyone who handled so much pain as graceful as her. She was stronger than even she ever knew. She IS my Hero. I am forever blessed and privileged to have had her to call ""my Mom"". When I reflect on her as a whole, she was a pure beautiful being and so rare. She is truly the substance of my very existence and who I am.
It was truly ""bitter"" to pray for God to take her, only so she could be pain free and for it be ""sweet"", but we know she will forever be remembered and will live on in and through myself and through those who loved her and the lives she touched.
We thank everyone for your time and prayers.
We thank God and his amazing grace for hearing all of the prayers that encompassed her and for taking her home. She received her wings Friday morning, June 12, 2020. No more pain.
Amen.
