Lorraine Johnson

May 25, 1936 — October 12, 2013

Lorraine passed away on the 12th of October in the midafternoon of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.  She had been fighting this for several years. We are fortunate she did not suffer; she went to sleep the night before and never woke up.

Lorraine was born in Denver and her parents were Irving and Helen Johnsen.  And yes, after getting married, she only had to change one letter in her last name, to Johnson.  Mom grew up not too far from South High School, and that is the high school she graduated from in 1954. After high school, she worked at a telephone company for a few years as a typist.  In 1955 she met Harold Johnson and they were married on December 7, 1956.  Shortly after she became a full-time homemaker and a new mom in 1958 when she had Ron then Larry in 1960.

Mom absolutely loved her sons and never missed any holiday or special occasion.  She always gave cards and gifts plus always wanted a dinner to celebrate.  This was a big part of her life.

The house was always spot-less and well decorated.  She was a really good cook.  After her sons were grown, she and Harold traveled a lot.  They went all over the United States plus every winter they went to Arizona for a few months.  Mom loved to dance, and she and our dad would go dancing at the VFW quite often when they were younger.  She was big into making ceramics and Ron still has many pieces.  She was really good at ceramics and we wish she had completed more pieces.

We think about her all the time and miss her.
