Lorraine Ann Johnson

Lorraine was born on December 12, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan to Wilfred and Areline Jenks. She passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the age of 77.

Lorraine loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, doing crafts and baking with them. She always called herself the “mean” grandma, but there wasn’t a mean bone in her body. She made sure to never miss her grandchildren’s birthdays and made whatever kind of cake that they wanted. Her specialty was Texas Sheet Cake. She made strawberry rhubarb jelly, which was everyone’s favorite.

Lorraine loved taking the grandchildren up to great-grandpa Jenks’ to walk around, pick berries, and visit. She liked going to yard sales, going to Walraven’s for ice cream, and driving around looking for deer and yelling “CAN!” She also enjoyed playing cards and board games.

You could always feel her love in her hugs and she would always make sure you knew just how much you were loved. She loved all of her nieces and nephews like her own. She accepted each and everyone exactly as they were.

Her special ministry was making personalized fleece baby blankets for expectant mothers in the community.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband Robert; her children Angela (Jeff) Mayes, Chad (Sheri) Johnson, Bryan (Lesley) Johnson; her grandchildren Stefanie, Kimberly, Alisha, Kristina, Brandon, Brady and Emmalee; her great-grandchildren Dade, Khloie, Rayleigh, Hayden and Azayla; and her sister Louis.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents Wilfred and Areline Jenks; and her siblings Wilfred Jr., Wayne and Barbara.
