Lorraine O. Veach

November 25, 1949 — August 22, 2007

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Wife and Friend was born to Herbert and Orel Lawyer November 25, 1949, in Idaho Falls, ID. She was the oldest of three girls. Lorraine, Marilyn, Carol and their parents spent their early years on a farm. The family moved to town when her father became a postal carrier. The family enjoyed many years together in the house on 9th Street. Lorraine met a young boy, Norman, in her fourth grade Sunday School class and declared, 'That's the person I am going to marry." She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1968 and went on to attend Business school. On April 14, 1972, she married her childhood sweetheart and became Mrs. Norman James Veach, Jr. They enjoyed a honeymoon in Colorado before the Army moved the happy couple overseas to Germany. They came back to the States and were stationed in San Antonio, TX, where they had their first set of twins, Ann and Melanie, in 1976. The growing family finished their military service and relocated to Moscow, ID where in 1980 they had their second set of twins, Jill and Donna, in Pullman, WA. After Norm obtained his degrees from the University of Idaho, the family moved to California with two toddlers and two newborns. She spent the next chapter of her life raising and caring for her daughters. She supported and cherished her girls, husband and churches, Anaheim UMC and Simi Valley UMC. In 1992, Lorraine began her calling as a preschool teacher where she was able to use her gifts of compassion and nurturing at Crossroads Preschool in Simi Valley, CA. She went on to share her love with the children at the Center for Child Development in Santa Ana, CA and Aldersgate Children's Center in Tustin, CA. Lorraine was proud to support her four girls through college. Her family grew in 1999 with the addition of her first son-in-law, Todd Ermer. Ann and Todd introduced her to the joys of grandparenting with the birth of Lydia Grace in April of 2004. In June of 2004, her family grew again when Donna married Nickolas Andrew. Lorraine was excited to move back to snow country when Norm's company relocated them to Denver, CO. She quickly became involved in her new community, by getting to know her neighbors and joining St. Luke's UMC prior to her unexpected death. Lorraine will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are comforted to know she is at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
