Louis Raymond Garramone, 89, passed peacefully March 12, 2014, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born July 20, 1924, in Denver, Colorado, to John M. and Catherine Sanfilippo Garramone. Lou attended North High School, served in the United States Navy and graduated from Colorado State College, now known as the University of Northern Colorado. He taught for 40 years in Denver Public Schools, spending 35 of those years at West High School. He spent his years teaching, counseling and coaching baseball, basketball and football. He enjoyed the time spent with his students and their families in the West Denver area. Lou was a member of the Italian Potenza Lodge. Lou is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Garramone; their children, Lynne and Jude Mason, Jill and Shawn Poole, Kim Amidei and Bryan Skarda, Missy Garramone and Chris Larson; grandchildren, Luke Blaser and Sunny Jones, Vince and Saranga Blaser (with great-granddaughter, Jaya Blaser), Max and Shayna Blaser, Joe Amidei, Jack Amidei and Reanna Trottier; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lou was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ang Volpe, Nancy Walrath, Gene Garramone and Stella McFall. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, 4-6 p.m., Horan & McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver. A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, March 17, 10:00 a.m., All Souls Catholic Church, 4950 S. Logan Street, Englewood. A luncheon will be held immediately following the Funeral Mass at the Englewood Elks Club, 3690 S. Jason Street, Englewood. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
