Louise Kulpak Couper

Louise Kulpak Couper of Arvada, Colorado passed away October 24th, 2015. Lou was born in Chicago to Anthony and Emily Kulpak on December 7th, 1932. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois and went on to earn a BA from University of Colorado in Boulder, where she was President of KD sorority. Lou had a passion for ballet throughout her life, was President of the Orchises Dance Group at University of Colorado, as well as teaching dance later in life. Lou and her husband of 61 years, Colin C. Couper, were long term residents of Hinsdale and Oak Brook, Illinois. After raising four sons, Lou entered the professional world, holding multiple positions, including serving as the Executive Vice President of the Residential Construction Executive Council for close to two decades. She was highly respected in her industry and recognized as the Woman of the Year in 1992 by the Chicagoland's Coalition for United Community Action. Lou was active in her community service as the Butler School PTA President, and President of the York Woods Woman's Golf Association. She and her husband, Colin, were scuba instructors, teaching hundreds of new divers with Atlantis Divers at the La Grange YMCA. They loved spending time together in Little Cayman. She is survived by her husband Colin C. Couper, her sister Elaine McDowell, her four sons, Gregory Couper wife Susan, Scott Couper wife Nadine, David Couper wife Colleen, and Chris Couper wife Angela, nine grandchildren, Courtney MacDonald husband Morgan, Carissa Couper, Candace Couper, Christina Couper, Eric Couper wife Rachel, Nicole Poche' husband Justin, Emily Couper, Drew Couper, and Cameron Couper, and a great grandchild Isla MacDonald. Private services were held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor would be most appreciated. The two most meaningful programs for her and her family are the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (via www.stjude.org) and the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at the University of Colorado Hospital (via www.cufund.org).
