Lowell Dean Mellott, 88, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully February 3, 2014. He was born August 10, 1925 in Holdrege, Nebraska. Upon graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his discharge, he worked 37 years for the Bureau of Reclamation, as an Engineer Technician, retiring in 1988. Lowell was an active member of the Green Mountain United Methodist Church for 47 years. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. Lowell is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lakewood; Children, Donald and Barbara Mellott of Salina, Kansas, Rodney Mellott of Arvada, Robert Mellott of Indianapolis, Indiana; Sister, Arline Heupel of Wabash, Indiana; stepchildren, Michael Spiller of Arvada, Cathy Westfall of Denver and Kevin Spiller of Littleton. He is also survived by fifteen wonderful grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Myrtle; his brothers, Lloyd and Gerald, and his first wife, Marjorie. A memorial service will be held Tuesday March 25 at 1:30PM at the United Methodist Church, 12755 West Cedar Drive, Lakewood 80228 to celebrate a full and blessed life. Memorial Donations may be made to the Green Mountain United Methodist Church, Lakewood Colorado and/or Exempla Lutheran Hospice at Collier Hospice Center, Wheat Ridge Colorado.
