Lt. Col. Franklin Joseph Lisella passed away peacefully on May 3, 2017 in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 83. Franklin is survived by his six children, Kim Gonzalez of Coatesville PA, Gwen Lisella-Smith of Fort Collins CO, John F. Lisella and wife Michelle of Littleton CO, Franklin G. Lisella of Arvada CO, Paul Lisella of Midlothian VA and Todd Lisella of Westampton NJ, along with eight grand-children. He is preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife, Barbara Ann Lisella. Franklin was born on March 3, 1934 in Montclair, NJ to Frank and Hilda Lisella. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1956 with a degree in physics. Shortly thereafter, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hance. Franklin entered the USAF in 1956 and went on to serve many years as a pilot in both active and reserve duty, including missions in Vietnam. Franklin also flew for Pan American Airways for over 25 years. Over a period of ten years, Franklin and Barbara welcomed six children into their home. Franklin truly loved his children whom he taught the values of hard work and education, as well as an appreciation of sports and music. Many beautiful family memories were built of good times at the Jersey shore, frequently a site of large joyous family gatherings. His children remember him as a very hard-working father, deeply devoted to the welfare of his family, who offered his full support and encouragement for them to pursue their goals. A memorial service to celebrate Franklin's life will be held at a later date â details to be announced when available. All will be welcome to attend and celebrate Franklin's life.
