David, 83, was born in Fairplay, Colorado and raised in Alma. His family moved to Brighton where they farmed much of what is known now as DIA. He graduated from Brighton High School (1957) and Colorado State University (1961) where he was a member of the ROTC, Cattle Judging Team, and Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He married Lorna A. Walters in 1962. He was stationed all over the world as an Army Officer. He did two tours in Vietnam. He received several honors while serving: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal and many others. He loved being an officer in the Army and being able to see the world with his wife and two sons Lee and Mark. After retiring, he lived with his wife of almost 55 years in Springfield VA. David was also a 33-degree Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by his two sons, David Lee Walters Jr., and Mark S. Walters: and his grandson Andrew B. Walters.
