Lucile Hatton. Oct. 14, 1925 - Oct. 6, 2005. Lucile Curtis (Ward) Hatton, 79, formerly of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, after a long battle with Alzheimer's at a care facility in Denver, Colo. Lucy was born and raised in Huntingdon, Tenn., the middle child of three children born to Everett and Ethel Ward. She graduated from Huntingdon High School and the Methodist School of Nursing in Memphis, and practiced as a registered nurse until the birth of her first child. Married in 1951, she devoted herself to her greatest joy, being a homemaker and mother to three daughters, and serving with such charitable organizations as the Symphony Guild, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the United Way. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Married Folks Dance Club and the Wednesday Club. Lucy was an accomplished seamstress, cook and hostess, and a gracious mother and role model for her three daughters who will miss her delightful sense of humor. She is survived by three daughters, Loraine (Randall) Stubbs of Lakewood, Colo., Julia (Steve) Finn of Antioch, Calif., and Jan Hatton Collins of Denver. Also grieving the loss of their grandmother are Amanda and Mitchell Stubbs of Lakewood, Colo., Andrew Finn of Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Ill.; and Wyatt Finn of Antioch, Calif. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Weir of Lawrence, Kan.; her brother, Edmund B. Ward of Wichita, Kan.; and her former husband, Edwin Hatton of Mishawaka. A memorial service will be held in the First United Presbyterian Church of Littleton, Colo., at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005.
