Alyce Lucille Penley (Lucy), died peacefully at her home, in Denver, on August 16, 2012 at the age of 96. She was born in Walsenburg, Colorado on October 28, 1915 and moved to Denver as a child, graduating from West High School and spent her adult life in south Denver. She was predeceased by her husband of 76 years, Bob Penley, in December 2011. She loved her friends, neighbors, co-workers, and later in life, her caregivers, but most of all her family. She is survived by her children Dennis (Kathleen) Penley, Linda (Larry) Kries, Karen (Dennis Richards) Boyd and Mary Ann Stare. She was the grandmother of six and great-grandmother of eight. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 10am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver. Interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery will follow. In her honor, buy a friend a flower or an ice cream cone and if that friend is elderly, so much the better. Her mischievous, loving spirit lives on.
