Lucille Marie Reichert, age 93, of Heather Gardens in Aurora, passed away on Saturday, August 10th in Aurora, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 18th at Heather Gardens; 2888 S. Heather Garden Way, Aurora, Colorado in the Sandberg Auditorium.
Lucille was born to Hermance and Alaric Martel in the St. Boniface region of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was the second child and first daughter of a family of eight. She grew up in Peoria, Illinois and later Harvey, Illinois. She met her husband Russell J. Reichert while working at Perfection Gear in Harvey. Russell sold his motorcycle to purchase her engagement ring and they married in 1945. Russell passed away in 1997.
Lucille worked as a loving mother to twelve children. Washing up to 5 loads of laundry every other day, planning and cooking nutritious family meals, and helping to manage Sunlight Bleach, a small family business, filled her days. She was active in the church and community serving on Ascension Catholic Church's Women's Club and Little League Baseball Women's Club. Lucille reached out to others through her work with Meals on Wheels, AIDS advocacy and compassion care for people in the final stages of life.
Lucille moved with her family to Glendale, California in 1970 where she worked at Brock Buslines as a school bus driver and then promoted to trainer. She drove school routes as well as field trips and never shied away from ski runs which often involved putting on snow chains. Her skills at gently corralling groups of children, her fun loving vivacious nature coupled with her exemplary safety record made her a highly requested driver. In 1975, Lucille moved to Littleton, Colorado and continued working with the school system as ""The Pony"" delivery system within the district.
Lucille had many craft skills from porcelain painting to crocheting and quilting. She has made too many quilts to count including a couple for each of her twelve children, birth quilts and high school graduation quilts for each of her 89 grandchildren. Lucille also loved to travel the world, learning about various cultures from China, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Kenya and many places throughout Europe. She has visited every continent except Antarctica. Lucille's large family expanded over the years which allowed her travel, adventure and untold joy.
Lucille is survived by her siblings Carmen Perri of Aurora, CO; Alex Martel and spouse Annette of Westmont, IL; and Paulette Collins, Racine, WI; children Ronald Reichert and spouse Cathi of Valpariso, IN; Alice Woodall and spouse David of Scottsboro, AL; Ann Gaglirdi of Aurora, CO; Patricia Reichert and partner Charlane Plucheck of Aurora, CO; Thomas Reichert and spouse Mary of Manhatten, KS; Jeanee Reichert and spouse Philip Krolick of Corvallis, OR; Debra Reichert and partner Paul Speck of Greely, CO; Mary Reichert of San Diego, CA; and Susan Gulaid and spouse Ali of Littleton, CO as well as 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.

Lucille's love and strength lives on in all of the lives she's touched. In the words of her grandchildren she was an extraordinary person. She never judged; she simply loved. She had a strong fighting spirit, full of life and laughed even when faced with the end. We wish she could have lived forever. She was truly one of a kind. If you knew her, you couldn't help but love her. Our love for her will never end; we will share it everyday.
