Lucy Martinez

April 5, 1930 — January 14, 2013

Lucy Martinez was born Jennie Aragon on April 5, 1930 at Stern Camp in New Mexico to Gregorio Aragon and Phyllis (Feliciana)Vigil Aragon. Lucy will always be remembered by family and friends alike for the most precious gift that she shared, she gave of herself. Her greatest passions in life were to care for her loved ones. It began at a very early age with the passing of her dear mother, at which time she lovingly began her courageous walk through life that would lead her down a path that she was so proud of, to take special care of those she loved. Her beloved husband of 62 years, the son she adored, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her father and brothers that were so very dear to her and her many nieces and nephews and anyone who had the good fortune of being called family and friend! From that time on she became a strong hold and touched many lives. When we take a minute to reflect on the very way she showed love for us individually we can only hope that we gave back as much love to her as she shared with us. And yet, not one of us would even begin know just how much she really did…for her loving way was always modest and intimate, only you knew what she did out of love for you. If you were a young person needing help, loving guidance and direction were there for you. If you had gotten yourself into trouble, she would so lovingly try to do all she could, but not without words of discernment. If you were sad and lonely, after spending time with her you were refreshed and reminded of her love for you. A loving confidant that we shall forever miss, our dear beloved Lucy who took such tender loving care of so many of us! She will also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. If you needed a good laugh she could tell a great joke! Her passion for fashion! She was an avid believer that if your hair don't look good you don't look good! And for many of us....we knew that we had to call first before dropping by...again a firm believer that you must look good before you open the door to visitors (including family) and before you go out the door and venture out in public! ""Babe"" her favorite expression no matter how old you are! The awesome ability to teach you what you didn't learn in grammar school, no misspelled or mispronounced words if you checked with her first! She loved world cultures, history, dancing and singing; she was very strong in her faith. The true meaning of company coming over…""get busy cleaning house"" even though the house is spotless! Wedded bliss for Bob and Lou...get to the morning paper FIRST to start the crossword puzzle! She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Robert E Martinez Sr.; son, Robert E. Martinez, Jr.; granddaughters, LaRae Martinez and Rene Bagley: mother to her granddaughters, Johnna Merrill: great-grandchildren, Isaiha and Kameron; siblings Dan Aragon, Julian Aragon; Preceded in death by Gilbert Aragon, Patricio Aragon; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be on Monday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, in Thornton, Colorado. Reception to follow Service.
