LuJeanne Hacking Holmstead

March 1, 1937 — February 5, 2013

Our sweet mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend LuJeanne Hacking Holmstead passed away peacefully from this life on Tuesday February 5, 2013 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado after living an abundant and devoted life. LuJeanne was born on March 1, 1937 in Cedar Fort, Utah to Wayne and Arvilla Hacking. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Morris Holmstead, on Nov 25, 1959 in the Salt Lake City Temple. For the past 45 years, they have lived happily in Denver surrounded by friends and their beloved Colorado Mountains. Her love of nurturing and aiding those in need originated in 1959 when she graduated from BYU as a Registered Nurse. She spent the next 17 years working at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado blessing others through her dedicated service. Her love for others was evidenced by her involvement in humanitarian efforts as she crocheted countless leper bandages, blankets, and other items for those in need. She had an energetic and fun loving personality; she enjoyed puzzles, playing games, and traveling. Her love for sports led to involvement in softball, basketball, and horseback riding. Over time, she also developed a passion for zip-lining. She enjoyed camping and often spoke of the great trips driving with her family across the country. When at home, she loved tending her prized rose bushes and creating a warm home environment. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving the Lord in many callings in Relief Society, Young Women's, and Primary. Above all, she delighted in spending time with her family. Nothing brought greater pleasure than family trips, reunions, and time with grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest, constantly seeking out opportunities to learn, befriend, and strengthen relationships. She is survived by her devoted husband Gary, five children Gary (Heidi), Michelle (Gerard), Stephen (Kendra), Bruce (Lorena), Shawn (Janel), twenty seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Leah. We are grateful for the wonderful 76 years we had with LuJeanne. She has blessed our lives and touched our hearts forever. We love you! A Funeral Service will be held Monday February 11, at 4:00 pm in the Clement Park Ward LDS Chapel at 6705 S. Webster St., Littleton, Colorado. A viewing will be held prior to services from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm. An additional Funeral Service will be held in Cedar Fort on Wednesday February 13, 2013, followed by the Interment at the Cedar Fort, Utah Cemetery.
