Luke Aaron Crawford Perkins, 30, of Northglenn, Colorado, suddenly passed away on October 26, 2019. He was born on March 13, 1989 in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Eric R. Perkins and Sharon Crawford Perkins.
Luke graduated from the Massachusetts Academy of Mathematics and Science, Worcester, MA, in 2007. He then attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, where he earned a Dual Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics in 2011. There he received the Founders Award of Excellence.
In 2010 he was published by the Conference of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Entertainment (https://aaai.org/ocs/index.php/AIIDE/AIIDE10/paper/view/2114): Terrain Analysis in Real-Time Strategy Games: An Integrated Approach to Choke Point Detection and Region Decomposition.
After internships at Intersense, Bedford, and Raytheon, MA, he began his career at BAE Systems, Nashua, NH, followed by several years at TripAdvisor in Newton, MA. He moved to Colorado and was quickly recruited by Google in Boulder CO. This was followed by Lifetime in Louisville, CO and then Amazon in Denver.
More recently he was volunteer organizer with climate activism group in the Greater Denver. Here he felt welcomed and appreciated.
Luke was adventurous, and poured his enthusiasm into whatever project he was working on.
Luke is survived by his mother Sharon Crawford Perkins, his sister Bethany Joy, brother John Philip, his grandmother Maryann L Crawford and grandfather Daniel E Crawford. He is also survived by his father Eric R Perkins and his family, his grandmother Marguerite Perkins and Ericâs family. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also mourn his loss.
A private service for him to be held in Centennial, CO, on November 2, 2019.
