Lyle Burkholder passed away in peace at the Denver Hospice on August 17, 2013. He was born in Burr Oak, KS on August 13, 1920, the son of Thomas and Vida, brother of Merel and brother-in-law of Mabel. Lyle grew up on the family farm then served in the Army during WII where he received his pilot's license. He then came to Denver and worked at United Airlines for 34 years where he retired as an air freight manager. He supported children's programs and belonged to the American Legion, UAL Retirees Assoc., the Democratic Party and the Episcopal Church. He was active in community and political causes, while enjoying golf, auto mechanics and home improvement projects. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janet; two daughters, Jean Chalmers and her late husband Bruce, and Amy Countryman and her husband Kirk; four grandchildren, Sandy Chalmers, Erin Chalmers, Katherine Hanson and Robert Young Jr.; three great-grandchildren Brendon, Julianna and Luke Hanson and their father Maxwell; nephew Steve Burkholder and family, nephew Billy Yost and family and niece Charlotte Yost and family; and all of his thoughtful and caring neighbors. Burial will be at Ft. Logan.
