Lynda P. McCoy passed away at home on May 7, 2022, at the age of 72.
Lynda was born in New Haven, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Robert H. Read & Patricia S. Read. She attended Bryant College with a major in business. Lynda was one of the most loving, radiant, giving, and generous people around. Her door was always open and she had a way of making you feel welcome, heard and loved. Lynda was also an accomplished artist and loved painting. She painted ornaments, barrel staves, canvas, wooden furniture, along with her beloved and most popular birdhouses.
Lynda’s creativity did not stop there. She had an eye for color which spilled out into her gardens. Her gardens were vibrant and beautiful, just as she was. Many drove from miles away to delight in the splendor of her beautiful flowers showcasing the many different colors. She would even dig up bulbs on the spot from her yard to ensure you had a start for your own garden. Lynda always had a shovel in the back seat of her car in case she found the perfect stone or flower to add to her garden. She built her own stone walls and picket fences for her gardens that were simply exquisite. Her support and encouragement for the local arts programs and self-expression was fierce. She loved popping in and out of galleries and attending local art shows. Her favorite art show was the annual RISD art show, where she always found the perfect gifts for Christmas.
Lynda played and loves sports, particularly basketball and tennis. Her favorite basketball teams were the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors. She followed both sports so closely that she knew all of the players life stories and stats. Lynda also loved the ocean and being in the sun. Lynda put together the best beach days for her family and their friends.
Although she will be missed, her legacy and spirit will continue to live on through memories and in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Holly Couture, son-in-law, Richard Couture & Alyson McCoy. She was the best Nana to her 2 grandchildren, Connor Couture and Mackenzie Couture. She also is survived by her sisters Susan Read & Tricia Brissette along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Lynda’s life is scheduled for May 23rd at the restaurant 95a located at 1381 Forest Park Cir #102, Lafayette, CO 80026 at 2pm.
There will be an additional celebration of life in Rhode Island planned for this summer with details to follow.
