Lynn Miller passed away on July 24, 2018. He is the beloved husband of seventy years to Anne (Jeff) and beloved, dedicated father to Marion (Bob) Jennings, Roys (Brad) Thedinger, Lynn, Rufus (Blair) and Jackie (Hal) Hawkey. He is grandfather of eight wonderful young adults and great grandfather of seven beautiful children - all influenced in a lasting, positive way from having him in their lives.
Lynn was born in St. Paul. He attended the Blake School in Minneapolis, then Yale University, became a Marine in 1944 and finished Yale after the war. He started his successful career in banking in Chicago at the Northern Trust Bank, ascending to eventually head the banking unit. He then became President of Mercantile Bank in St. Louis before moving to Houston and working as Vice Chairman of M-Corp. Throughout his career, Lynn and Jeff were always active in their community through their children's schools, church, the Red Cross and many other organizations.
Lynn retired and moved to Evergreen, CO in 1989. He played softball for the Generics in the Evergreen Rec League, tutored math at King Murphy Elementary for 17 years, volunteered for the Clear Creek County Advocates and was also on the Clear Creek County Planning Commission. He served on the Clear Creek Economic Development Corporation Board for 10 years. He and Jeff volunteered with the Evergreen Christian Outreach Food Bank on Thursdays for 15 years. They were both active tennis and platform tennis players at Mount Vernon Country Club, and generally loved to hike, walk and just be outdoors.
Lynn's passion for his family, Clear Creek County and his cabin in Buena Vista ruled his retirement. Fishing, cooking soup, cutting wood at the cabin and spending time with his grandkids were his favorite activities. Lynn spent the last years of his life having fun with Jeff and family. He will be remembered for his strong character, his integrity, a charming and playful sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. He will be missed and always remembered fondly by his family and friends.
