M. Richard Andrews

ANDREWS, M. RICHARD ""ANDY"" Andy, 85, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2009. He was born in Indianapolis and raised in Hartford, CT. Andy attended New York Military Academy, served in the Infantry during WWII and survived the invasions of Leyte and Okinawa. After the war, he graduated from Colgate University as a DKE with a degree in Russian history. Andy moved to Denver in 1949 and began his real estate career with the Frederick Ross Company. He soon left to start Andrews & Co. and developed several notable communities, including the luxury hi-rise Park Mayfair Apartments and Jasmine Condominiums. He was the longest standing member of the University Club and a member of the University Hills Rotary for over 20 years. He embraced life with gusto and wit and was respected and liked by all who knew him. Andy is survived by his wife, Barbara Andrews; children, Miles, Doug, Ross, and Barrie Andrews; sister, Barbara Olmstead, of Portland, OR; and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3:00 at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda, with reception thereafter at the University Club, 1673 Sherman.
