Mabel Roberta ""Robbie"" Knuth

Mabel Roberta Knuth, known as “Robbie,” of Denver, Colorado passed away on August 12, 2017, at the age of 83. She was born on July 8, 1934 in McClave, Colorado to Edson & Erma Moss. She graduated from the Bent County Branch High School in McClave. In June 1953, Robbie entered the University of Kansas Medical Center Nursing School in Kansas City, Kansas. She received her Practical Nurse License in September of 1954 from the University. Upon graduation, Robbie returned to Colorado and began working in November, 1954 at the Pioneer Hospital in Rocky Ford, Colorado. She moved to Watertown, South Dakota, in 1957, where she worked at the local hospital. Returning from South Dakota and to Rocky Ford, after a short while, Robbie attended Baylor University for a year taking additional nursing courses, in obstetrics and pediatrics. Robbie returned home for nearly half a year before venturing to Denver, Colorado. In 1963, she began work at the Presbyterian Hospital and then spent seven years with Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. Robbie met David C. Knuth on October 11, 1969 and were married November 22, 1969 at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Thornton, Colorado. They had two daughters, Kendra Suzanne, born January 5, and LeeAndra Lynn, born July 10. Robbie ended her long nursing career in 1976. She began an in-home child care service until her daughter LeeAndra began school. After her daughters graduated from Northglenn High School, she worked part-time at Mountain View Lutheran Church, the church where she and Dave were married. Robbie is survived by her loving husband, David; daughters, Kendra Peterson (Clarence “Skip” John Peterson, married July 14, 1990) and LeeAndra Claypool (Jason Claypool, married June 27, 2014); grandchildren, Catherine, Andrew, Jessica, Gina, Zane & Shaelyn; and great grandchildren, Robbie, Marcella, Tyler, Jay, Stephen & Zayne. She is also survived by 4 nephews: Donald Roth, Randy Moss, Thomas Beckler and Timothy Beckler; 3 nieces: Lynda Moss, Peggy Beckler-Riley, and Janet Molina. She was also a great aunt to many loving great nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Edson and Erma Moss; and her siblings: Galen Moss and Doris (Moss) Roth. Viewing will begin Friday, August 18, 2017 at 9:30 AM, with Funeral Services at 10:30 AM, both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, in Thornton, Colorado 80229. Interment will be Monday, August 21, 2017, at 1:30 PM, at McClave Cemetery, in McClave, Colorado.
