Allen McCanlies ""Mack"" Lyon, 91, former resident of Parker, Colorado and Rochester, N.Y., passed away Sept. 13, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born in Vernon, Texas. Mack is survived by wife, Doris Lyon, Tucson; children, Elizabeth Lyon, Richard (Jenny) Lyon, Alan (Bill) Lyon, and Noralie (Jim) Ellison; grandchildren, Cara (Jeff) LeConte, Kathleen (Joe) O'Brien, Natalie Lyon, Nathan (Katie) Lyon, Amanda Elllison and Jordan (Chelsea) Ellison; 5 great grandchildren, Doris' 6 children, Keith Dedman, Teresa Dickinson, Diane Hollist, Garry Wolf, Dwayne Wolf and Carolyn Brown; and sisters Mary Ellen Schnelle, Juanita Kasper and Phyllis Stott. Preceded in death by son, David Lyon; wife of 52 years; Helen Lyon of Rochester, N.Y.; and wife Mary Rieber of Parker, Colorado. Also preceeded in death by brothers, Wayne, Jerry and Dewey Lyon. Mack was a wonderful and dedicated husband, father, and father-in-law. His many interests and hobbies over his long life included archery, watching football, bicycle riding, photography, back packing and traveling. When Mack was 17 he joined the cavalry and after tiring of taking care of his horse, transferred to the army air force. He spent 8 years in the service, with three of them in Africa during World War II. He survived a plane crash while serving. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. After his marriage to Helen (whom he met in Africa while they were both serving) he spent 30 years as a mechanic and then became a photographer. He and Helen travelled the world for 25 years visiting every continent but Antarctica. In December 2005, Mack married Doris Briscoe. Last year, at the age of 90, they traveled to 5 states visiting family in their motor home. Doris and the family have many cherished memories. A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20850 E. Main Street, Parker, CO on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10:00am. A viewing will be held at the Church from 9:00-9:45am. Burial will follow the service at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO, at 12 Noon, Staging Area ""A"".
