Mackenzie Erwin Tynan, 22, passed away on the evening of May 16th, 2019. A Denver native, Mackenzie was born November 2nd, 1996 to Bernadette and Kelly Tynan. He attended Saint Vincent de Paul elementary school and graduated from Regis Jesuit High School in 2015. Mackenzie attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City and the University of Colorado Denver. He was an accomplished athlete in a wide variety of sports that included swimming, diving, ice skating, basketball, baseball, football and lacrosse. Mackenzie earned a varsity position at Regis on both the football and lacrosse team's sophomore through senior years. Mackenzie was enthusiastically involved with Scouting starting as a Cub Scout and traveling the Scout path through Boy Scouts where he earned Scouting's highest achievement of Eagle Scout before entering High School. He was a passionate student who loved learning and excelled in English and literature at Regis Jesuit HS. He had a deep and abiding faith and believed in the ever-present power of the Holy Spirit in his life. He referred to times in his life when small daily miracles occurred as ""God just winked"". Mackenzie had great respect and love for his older brother Jack, and his vast array of family and friends. His special place on earth was Camp Davis, a guest ranch in northern New Mexico where he spent summer vacations with his family and worked as wrangler as young adult.
He is survived by his devoted and loving mother Bernadette, brother Jack, father Kelly, Aunts; Meg Tynan, Joan Gildea, Uncles; Patrick Tynan, Matt Tynan, Sean Tynan and Ed Tynan and sweet ""Grandma Rosie"" long with a large extended Tynan family of cousins in Colorado and across the country.
The services for Mackenzie Tynan will be held at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held; Tuesday May 28th, 7pm at Saint Vincent de Paul. With a reception in the cafeteria afterwards. 2375 E Arizona Ave, Denver, CO 80210. The funeral will be Wednesday May 29th, 10 am at St Vincent de Paul. 2375 E Arizona Ave, Denver, CO 80210. Following the services the family will go to Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery where Mackenzie will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in Mackenzie's name to Step Denver, Men Residential Recovery facility and NAMI Colorado (National Alliance of Mental Illness).
