Madge M. Ichikawa

Madge M. Ichikawa, age 86, passed away April 15, 2016 in Aurora, CO. She was born on January 17, 1930 in Honolulu, HI to Giichi & Mitsu (Okazaki) Tomoyasu. Madge left Hawaii for Denver, CO to attend Denver University where she graduated in the late 1940's and it was there that she met her husband, Ben K. Ichikawa. Together they traveled to many places including Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, Canada and her favorite, Las Vegas, NV. Madge loved to go to the casino and do crossword puzzles at home. She taught for over 40 years as an elementary teacher in the Denver Public School system and loved all her young students, many of which still remember her to this day. She was an avid Broncos fan and collected frogs, including many dollar bill origami frogs she'd made. Madge is survived by her husband, Ben K. Ichikawa; daughter, Cheryl Lammers (Kevin) of Omaha, NE; son, Brian Ichikawa of Aurora, CO; grandson, Brett Lammers (Jessica) of Riverdale, NE; great grandson, Rex Lammers; sisters, Elsie Takao (Frank) and Thelma Hirata, both of HI; as well as many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21st from 4-8 pm at Horan & McConaty (11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO 80014) with services the following day at 11 am. Private burial will take place at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
