Mads Anderson, 92, passed away on March 25, 2019 in Lakewood, Colorado. Mads was born and raised in Baker, Montana. He was the son of Andrew Anderson and Inga Anderson Hanson. He graduated from Baker High School in 1944 and the University of Montana with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1948. He served in the Air Force in 1944 and 1945. Mads married Ruth Lentz, of Baker in 1953. They moved to Denver, Colorado where they raised three children: Karla, Robert and Eva. Ruth passed away in 1973.
Mads worked in the banking industry for most of his life. After working as a loan officer in several Denver area banks he moved his family to Rifle, Colorado. While in Rifle he was the President and CEO of The First National Bank for 6 years. He served as the President of the Rifle Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in bringing a public swimming pool to Rifle. Upon returning to Denver he served as President and CEO of the Central Bank of North Denver from 1970 - 1988. He applied for a bank charter in Bailey, Colorado in 1974. He was a Director, President and CEO of that bank until he sold it in 1976.
After retiring in 1988 Mads served as a representative for the American Bankers Association for three years. He enjoyed traveling and at the age of 62 made a trip with his son, Robert, to Mt. Everestâs advanced base camp. He looked forward to running in the Bolder Boulder 10K race each year. He ran in it for 25 years until the age of 87. Over the years, one of his favorite places was the cabin that he built in the mountains of Colorado near Fairplay.
Mads had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren which brought him much joy.
Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2019 from 5:30-7pm at Horan & McConaty, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada.
Interment will be Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 10am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area âAâ, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver. Memorial Service to follow at 12pm at Horan & McConaty, Arvada.
