Mahlon Alfred Femrite passed away on May 8, 2019, surrounded by family at his home in Castle Pines, Colorado at 75 years of age after a 12 battle with Parkinson's.
Born November 19, 1943 in Montevideo, MN to parents Alfred and Mabel (Moen) Femrite, the younger of two children, he was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Growing up on the family farm in Lac Qui Parle County near Dawson, MN, Mahlon enjoyed farming with his father. His first nine years of education were spent in a one room schoolhouse, later graduating from Dawson Public HS in 1961. Following graduation, he served in the National Guard before moving to Minneapolis, MN. Mahlon gained employment as a machinist with Lowell, Inc., where he remained for 40 years, moving from machining up through the company to mechanical engineering, retiring in 2008.
He married his wife of 55 years, Arlyce Winge, on April 5, 1964 in Minneapolis, MN deciding to raise their family of two sons and a daughter.
Mahlon especially loved being with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was a loyal MN Vikings fan and never gave up hope for a Super Bowl victory. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, golf, working on his cars and traveling.
In 2014, Mahlon and Arlyce moved to Castle Pines, Colorado where he lived until his passing.
Mahlon is survived by his wife Arlyce, son Scott (Christina, her daughter Lara), daughter Lisa (Leisha) Joiner, son Steven (Annie), grandchildren Matthew, Riland, Bergen and Macalin, his sister Arlys (Todd), brothers-in-law LeRoy (Joan)Winge, Ardell (Pam) Winge, sisters-in-law LaVonda Akre, Betty (Pete) Sedlacek, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Heath Buer.
Mahlon was a warm, caring and generous man with a welcoming smile. He was well loved and respected by those who knew him and always a pleasure to be around. He will be greatly missed.
