Major Gregory J. Bennett U.S. Army Ret.

Greg Bennett was born on February 2, 1948 to Wallace Bennett and Marjorie Jordan in Kansas City, Missouri. He had a distinguished career with the United States Army and served in Vietnam; as well as the Korean DMZ. He was also quite successful in assisting with Defense Intelligence activities. Greg passed peacefully on August 9, 2018 in the care and presence of his family.

Greg had numerous careers and hobbies in the private sector. His hobbies included long range shooting, fly fishing, and traveling in a recreational vehicle. A lot of people in Lakewood, Colorado knew Greg because he coached little league football for 25 years. Professionally, Greg taught flying aircraft, was a geologist, assisted in environmental clean-up, was a licensed nurse, and taught science in the public-school system. He was very talented, and he utilized these talents broadly. It is important to mention that Greg was a routine patron of Yummy's Donut House, and his family estimates that he ate over 5,280 donuts in over 25 years at Yummy's.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Bennett; his son, Jonathan (Beth Turner) Bennett; one granddaughter, Khaleesi Bennett; his step-mother, Carol Bennett; and his four brothers, Jeff (Mary) Bennett, Brian (Grace) Bennett, John (Michelle) Bennett, and Gary Bennett.

Greg's Funeral is Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Horan & McConaty Lakewood Chapel. Following this service, Greg will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery receiving Full Honors from the United States Army. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.
